Mountain Quest Programming Guide [pdf]

"In every walk with nature one receives far more than he seeks." - John Muir
BRLC’s Mountain Quest is a multidisciplinary outdoor environmental education program designed to enhance your classroom curriculum. All programs utilize experience-based teaching models in which participants "learn by doing". The unique curriculum integrates academic programs with challenging group and individual problem-solving activities to foster personal growth and enhance academic skills.
We have programs that will directly help fulfill teaching objectives in...
- Science and environmental programs - Biology, geology, scientific investigations, self-awareness: who we are and our relationship to the planet and natural world
- History and historical interpretation - Ancient living, Native American and Appalachian studies
- Physical Education and team-building - Self-esteem, teamwork, leadership, healthful living

All of our hands-on activities are designed to enhance classroom teaching curriculum. We have found students are very receptive to learning how they interact with their peers and their environment when immersed in stimulating, real-life situations. By integrating this with traditional classroom objectives, the students become active participants in the learning process.
Our Mountain Quest program will creatively challenge your class to learn and to think as responsible young adults. We are excited about this unique approach to curriculum development and look forward to working with you and helping you design a curriculum to meet the needs and challenges of your students.
