Our Challenge Courses

Blue Ridge Learning Centers operates several unique ropes course facilities in the High Country of NC in partnership with both the Blowing Rock and Valle Crucis Conference Centers. All of our courses are constructed and maintained by our challenge course design and installation division, Challenge Towers. Challenge Towers is a Professional Vendor Member of the Association for Challenge Course Technology (ACCT), which represents the highest possible credentials in the challenge course field. The Discovery Course

Located on the grounds of the Blowing Rock Conference Center, the Discovery Course is the crown jewel of our challenge course facilities. The Discovery Course is a high ropes experience that features over 25 separate challenges, dual zip lines and a giant's swing. Participants wear harnesses and use special devices called "lobster claws" to safely connect to the course and choice their route through a seemingly endless number of route possibilities. One of the greatest features of the course is the ability to have upwards of 25 people in the course together at any one time! Unlike many challenge courses, the Discovery Course is highly accessible to individuals with disabilities. Our highly trained staff are ready to give your group the experience of a lifetime.

Indoor Adventure Center

Also on the grounds of the Blowing Rock Conference Center is our unique Indoor Adventure Center featuring a multi-route climbing wall, and other high challenges including a Giants Ladder and a Pamper Pole. We also take full advantage of the large indoor space for facilitating group interaction activities. Our warm and sheltered indoor facility offers a perfect experience for groups looking for wintertime and evening programs but is used throughout the year as a great facility for any occasion!

Outdoor Climbing Wall

Located at the historic Valle Crusis Conference Center, our outdoor climbing wall provides a great introductory experience to roped climbing for in a safe and controlled atmosphere. This outdoor facility is often coupled with the High Ropes Course and Group Interaction Course also located on the conference center grounds to provide group with a well rounded and comprehensive challenge course experience.

High Ropes Course

Also located on the grounds of the Historic Valle Crucis Conference Center, The High Ropes Course incorporates several high challenges into trees in a beautiful high mountain forest. It is perfect for groups looking for a traditional challenge course experience incorporating dynamic belay safety systems. All participants wear harnesses and helmets are are secured by ropes throughout their time in the air. Our highly trained staff will work with your group to ensure that you have a great experience!

Group Interaction Courses

Often referred to as "low ropes," Group Interaction Courses focus specifically on addressing the competencies needed for team development. These courses keep your group low to the ground and use a variety of methods to help your team have a fun and meaningful experience. Your group will be given a series of enjoyable but challenging tasks that you must work together to achieve. Your group will continually discuss and develop strategies for how to improve in your team processes. Blue Ridge Learning Centers operates these low Group Interaction Courses at both the Blowing Rock and Valle Crucis Conference Centers.
